Hot Stuff

I took a stroll today to get a steamed milk at the local coffee shop in Ravenna -- Hot Stuff. Ziba, the gregarious owner, makes some of the best foam ever. It's thick with tiny bubbles, and it sits on top of the beverage until the very end.

In the 2004 Seattle Weekly's Best of Seattle, Hot Stuff won an award for being the best coffee house, but also for being the "Best New Thing You Discovered in Seattle in the Last Year."

The fact that Ziba makes a great cappucino is probably part of what keeps so many people coming back. But, I think the real treasure is the little things Ziba does to make people feel at home... there's a wonderful "pull up a chair" feel to her place, and she remembers your drink every time, even if you've only been there twice before.

Hot Stuff is in Ravenna on NE 65th at 22nd NE. Look for the red lips and the valentine decor (and don't miss the wall of fire fighters!) Go check it out... it's worth a visit.
